Can you describe in a few words who you are and your activity at V-Nova?
I’m Obioma Okehie, FPGA/ASIC group Engineering-Lead at V-Nova Services LTD, responsible for co-ordination, design, and delivery of the MPEG-5 LCEVC enhancement coding on FPGA & ASIC with a small team of talented FPGA/ASIC engineers.
How do you summarize the V-Nova Value Proposition?
MPEG-5 LCEVC is an enhancement standard that significantly improves the quality and throughput of any existing or future codec (e.g., AVC/H.264, HEVC, VP9, AV1, VVC, EVC). When combined with a Xilinx FPGA, V-Nova LCEVC provides the highest density encoding solution in the market enabling use cases such as live 4Kp60 encoding on a single card.
V-Nova is a flagship of the recently launched Xilinx AppStore. Which benefits will you get from it? And what about your customers?
Our collaboration with Xilinx goes back a long way and has allowed us to make an implementation of the newest standard by MPEG on an FPGA in record time. Through the AppStore, Xilinx and V-Nova customers will also be able to access the LCEVC FPGA core in the easiest and fastest possible way.
With LCEVC on FPGA one will be able to:
• Stream Live 4Kp60 or multiple HD videos per card
• Increase the throughput of existing servers by up to 4x
• Reduce power consumption per channel
• Reduce transcoding costs per channel
• Achieve the lowest latency, highest density single card encoding solution
